Project: WebComicsDB
Sample WebComicsDB screen

Platforms: PHP4 for scripting/programming, MySQL Database for Backend Work, Apache and mod_ssl for Web Server.
Comments: An open source, freeware web system to allow people to catalog their comic book collections. Project available from freshmeat.net and linuxlinks.com.
Available: WebComicsDB

Project: JackassCritics.com
jackasscritics.com

Platforms: PHP4 for scripting/programming, MySQL Database for Backend Work, Apache & mod_ssl for Web Server.
Comments: Web site for DVD Reviews and News. All content such as reviews, special topics, newsbits, images, user information is stored in MySQL Database backend. We have 7 active participants who write DVD reviews, submit news, write special topics and offer criticisms. In order to allow them to submit their information, I built an entire Administrative "Panel" that allows contributors to easily input their information into the database, at which point their submission becomes instantenously available to our users. So not only in the front end written with PHP interfacing with the database, but the method of inputting new database is via a PHP interface.
Available: www.jackasscritics.com - Admission to the Administrative Panel is available.

Project: Telecorp Products Browser Based Reporting
Telecorp Products Browser Based Reporting

Platforms: ASP for scripting/programming, Pervasive (AKA Btrieve) Database for Backend Work, Microsoft IIS for Web Server, Crystal Reports
Comments: This product allows Call Center Supervisors to run reports on their representatives activities for any period of time. Telecorp has a traditional product (an installable executable) that accomplishes this task, so my charge was to mimic the look and feel of the traditional product as much as possible with our web based offering. We take a series of inputs from the Supervisor that would be interested in the report, then we query the database for the appropriate statistics for the requested report. I then formulate a Crystal Report which streams down to the Web Browser via an Active X Control. At this point the user is viewing the exact same report they would see using the traditional product if they had installed the software on their machine. Instead of a traditional install, where we had to send a technician to every machine that wished to generate reports, using Browser Based Reporting we are able to install our software on one single server, and have every Supervisor at the location point their web browser to the server to generate reports, drastically reducing install time and install costs.

Project: Telecorp Products IQ (Browser Based Real Time Statistics)
Telecorp Products Browser Based Real Time Statistics

Platforms: ASP for scripting/programming, MySQL Database for Backend Work, Microsoft IIS for Web Server, XML/XSL for data and data formatting needs.
Comments: Again I was charged with created a web-based equivalent of a traditional product. This product streams information to a Supervisors desktop in real time. A colleague modified the traditional product to write the real time data to a MySQL database instead of displaying it on screen. At that point, I wrote the ASP code to create the Web Front end for it. Using ASP, I generate a XML document at a user specified interval (default every 5 seconds) at which point it is streamed down to the Supervisors Web Browser, transformed into a HTML document using XSL to layout the XML properly. Since we are using XML and XSL technologies, the browser is refreshed with data without the usual "flicker" or other annoyances. Just like with the Browser Based Reporting, the Browser Based Real Time Statistics package allowed the Installation department to have massive savings in time and effort. Instead of potential problems with every machine that they installed the traditional package on, there is one single potential point of failure. There is no need to install client software on every Supervisors machine since the client software is the web browser on their machine.

Project: Telecorp Products DevRequest System
Telecorp Products Browser Development Request System

Platforms: ASP for scripting/programming, Pervasive Database for Backend Work, Microsoft IIS for Web Server
Comments: Internal bug tracking system. Everyone in the company uses the system to report and track bugs in all of our software. Ties into Telecorp's existing database of Client data.
Available: I'm sorry, due to the sensitive nature of this information direct access is not available. I have several screen captures of the system if you are interested. Please contact me.
